The best beaches of the Costa del Sol are in Marbella and this is why the city has been awarded a total of 7 blue flags. Most of these beaches are located in Marbella centre and Golden Mile. Blue flags have been awarded by the European Foundation for Environmental Education since the 1980s. They are awarded to beaches that “comply with a series of environmental, educational, safety and accessibility criteria”.
